Matt Thompson P.A. - Attorney

Matt ThompsonI was born in Lakeland, Florida, as a fourth generation Florida native. Growing up in this state, I have earned a deep respect and admiration for Florida's laws and how those laws affect its citizens. It is because of this respect and admiration that I chose to study Political Science at The Florida State University. I then went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida.

My legal career began with a six-year tenure at the Office of the State Attorney in DeLand, Florida. While working as a prosecutor, I obtained the highly valued trial experience needed to zealously represent my clients in the courtroom and see their cases through to completion. I have presented a wide array of cases to judges and juries that include: driving under the influence, narcotics possession and sale, driver's license violations, career criminal cases, sex crimes, and homicides.

In order to expand my foundation of legal knowledge and experience, I spent two years as an Associate Attorney in a civil litigation firm handling matters such as real estate transactions including foreclosures and landlord/tenant disputes, personal injury litigation, contract formation and litigation, and family law. During this time I earned the distinct honor of being named a "Rising Star" in Florida's "Super Lawyers" magazine for 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The culmination of my legal career was establishing Thompson Law, P.A. for the citizens of Central Florida. Thompson Law, P.A., "A Florida Firm," combines an innovative legal approach with old-fashioned values to provide clients with representation that has both depth and focus.

I believe a small firm can make a big impact on the lives of my clients. Only a small firm can provide the personal attention necessary to navigate the legal system while delivering to my clients a simple and straightforward understanding of the process, and the best possible result.

Given the opportunity, Thompson Law P.A. would be honored to provide to you aggressive representation, personal attention, and accurate legal advice.

Nicole Furlani - Client Outreach

Nicole FurlaniI was born in Maybrook, New York, a small town not too far from New York City. I moved to Naples, Florida when I was young, but could still remember enough of home that I missed the small town vibe. It wasn't until I came to DeLand for my undergraduate studies that I was able to experience that feeling again. Like all small towns, DeLand has a unique charm that has made attending Stetson University all the more worthwhile.

I started developing an interest in law in high school. Luckily, my high school offered a law class, and after the first few weeks, I knew that law was the field I wanted to pursue. I started getting involved with anything law based, from volunteering at the local courthouse through the Teen Court program to being a competing member on my high school's mock trial team. As a student at Stetson, I have continued my love of law by joining the undergraduate mock trial program, where I was placed as an attorney on the A Team my first year. As an undergraduate, I study Sociology with a focus on Criminology, which both provide an analysis of the law and how laws affect the population as a whole.

The most striking thing I've learned from my four years of mock trial is the importance of a great defense. And while mock trial handles fictitious charges, working for Thompson Law has shown me just how much truth this lesson holds in real cases as well. No matter the case, everyone is entitled to a defense that is knowledgeable, attentive, and understanding. That's part of what draws me to Thompson Law. We're a small firm that focuses on each client and keeps you informed every step of the way. Here, you can be sure that whoever you're talking to cares about the case, and more importantly, the client.

I'm only just beginning my path to becoming an attorney, but each day in this field presents a new opportunity to learn and grow, and it's a path I've become increasingly excited to walk down.
